VISA GUIDE

O-1

O-1 Extraordinary Ability Visa

For individuals with extraordinary ability or achievement — sciences, business, athletics, arts, or motion pictures

The O-1 visa covers two related categories: O-1A for extraordinary ability in sciences, education, business, or athletics, and O-1B for extraordinary achievement in the arts or motion picture/television industry. There's no annual cap and no lottery.

O-1A and O-1B share the same visa category but use different evidentiary standards, so most questions are about which one applies to you and how the process differs from a green card filing with similar evidence.
